Finger puppets
Here’s a tutorial to make your own finger puppets
Things you’ll need:
- 2 colours of craft foam
- Finger puppet template (found here: https://www.facebook.com/BoomCommunityArts/photos/a.942175236213795/1093631221068195 )
- Scissors
- Googly eyes
- Pen or pencil
- Glue or double sided sticky tape
Instructions:
- Print and cut out your finger puppet template, if you don’t have a printer you could carefully trace this from your screen on paper or greaseproof paper/baking parchment
- Draw round your template on one of the pieces of foam. Make sure you place it at the edge of your foam so you’re left with a nice big bit to use for another project or another puppet
- Cut out your puppet shape
- Add some double sided tape to your cut out foam on the bottom edges, this will be easier to see where in the video
- Stick the sides together so you’re creating a tube that your finger will go into, if you’re using glue here, make sure you hold it in place while it dries
- This completes your bird body, now time to add details
- Time to add a beak, use your finger puppet body as a template for your beak so that it fits
- Initially cut out a rectangle, then shape this into your preferred beak shape
- Attach using tape or glue
- Attach your googly eyes to your finger puppet
- Draw a wing shape, Barry’s look like a 4 clawed paw print (kinda!)
- Fold the foam over so you’re cutting through two layers of foam at once, so you’ll get a matching pair of wings
- Add glue or tape to your wings and position on your finger puppet
- You can use the foam scraps to add extra detail to your bird
